Auditions for Renaissance Group

At the Florilège competition, there is a Renaissance competition that is separate from the main choir competition. We are entering that, as most of you know. Different groups of singers can sing in that part of the competition.  (read about that portion of the competition here)

I'll likely audition for one group of the singers and one of our works will be Josquin's Gaude Virgo, available below. JOSQUIN Gaude virgo Here are links to recordings:

On Spotify

On iTunes, these are the recordings I purchased:
The Sixteen
Chanticleer
Tallis Scholars
Cantica Symphonia

We may have different configurations of singers for the Renaissance portion, like:
  • A small group of 12-16 performing Josquin's Gaude Virgo
  • A large group of 40 performing a multi-choir work.
  • A women's group performing a three-part renaissance work.
If you want to audition for the group, let me know by:

1.  Women:  Learning m. 1-18.
2.  Men:  Learning m. 17-32

Your preparation matters.  Listen to the recordings and sing with nuance.

We will audition for the Renaissance group in the first two weeks of classes.

If we win in Tours, we are qualified to compete for the "Gran Premio."

Here is the form

Recording inspiration

Rachel and Ellen inspired me to upload the recordings and sat with me while I completed the task.  They are pictured here holding the letter that invited us to the competition - it arrived yesterday by registered mail from France.  Thanks, girls!
